We’ve put together a few tips on how to properly clean your vessel in the context of the health crisis.
Step 1: get fresh air into the cabin
If your vessel was unused during lockdown, you’ll need to let fresh air into the cabin to remove any germs that may have built up.
Step 2: let the water run for a while
Leave your taps on for a few minutes to flush out stagnant water in the pipework.
Step 3: clean all surfaces
If there is no known risk of Covid-19: clean the various surfaces and worktops using chemical products (soap, cleaning products, detergents, grease removers, etc.).
If there is a risk of Covid-19: clean the various surfaces inside your vessel using products such as bleach (in solution, not pure form) or any product that meets the NF EN 14476 standard on chemical disinfectants and antiseptics (July 2019 version).
To preserve the water quality in the port area, opt for biodegradable products which have an Ecolabel.
Only use disinfectant if it is strictly necessary to do so. Overuse of disinfectant can lead to the development of micro-organisms that are resistant to disinfectant.
